My first startup was originally called “Persai” (Personal AI). I had a dream of persistent search with learning models. In May 2007, we moved to San Francisco and started a machine learning company for consumers.

Web 2.0 was in full swing and everyone else was focused on social networking. We were focused on how to get support vector machines to classify documents from a web crawl at scale.

Sometimes you are early and sometimes you are really early. Just a reminder that success is a combination of timing, execution and luck. You likely need all three.
