Hypervals

I lose track of time. I tend to go into a very deep focus while working. I spend amounts of time I never intended on low priority items. I get distracted.

My solution: Hypervals.

A Hyperval is a interval of focused work. Think of work as HIIT training where we are committing to an interval of intensity with rest waiting for us at the end. Set your interval duration and get it done.

The Hypervals app is a free productivity timer for the Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch that enables you to complete intervals of focused work.

And there’s one more thing: internet blocking. A Superval is an interval where you block the internet on your devices while the timer is active. If you install Hypervals on your iPhone and Mac and start a Superval the internet will be blocked on both devices for the duration of the interval!

You have one choice when starting a timer: Hyperval or Superval. A Hyperval is a normal timer session. A Superval will block the internet on all of your devices.

The Mac app has the timer in the menubar so its always visible. The iOS app uses live activities to display the timer in the Dynamic Island when the app is in the background. The Watch will keep the app open and as a running activity during sessions. Multipeer local networking is used to keep the timers perfectly in sync if the devices are on the same network.

You can set daily Hyperval goals and track your progress. Charts and calendar views display your progress for completed Hypervals and total focused minutes over time. Nudges will remind you to start a Hyperval if you haven’t in awhile.

The app uses CloudKit for storage and data synchronization that is private to your iCloud account.
